Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello there! My name is Zavalla, and I'm a sweet brown tabby DSH gal who was born in July 2015. I got my unusual moniker because Zavalla was the street on which I was rescued. My kitten Colonel Panther, my buddy/ maybe hubby Tao, and I were rescued by a Good Samaritan who had been feeding us where he worked. He arranged for our future foster meowmy to take us in for safety from the elements as well as cars, dogs, as well as coyotes. I'm a quiet girl who doesn't like a lot of commotion. Although my foster home has no dogs or kids, I think I'd prefer a home with only a calm, cat-friendly dog and gentle, older children. I get along with the ... (Read More)other cats in my foster home, but frankly, I'm not thrilled about them either. But I do great with all adults and older kids! As much as I'm grateful to my foster meowmy that I can kiss my hardscrabble life good-bye and that I have brimming food/ water bowls, a warm bed, as wells as toys, I'm anxious to find my lifetime home. I don't mean to be too picky, but if I had my 'druthers,' I'd love to find a quiet home as opposed to one that's like Grand Central Station, which my foster home can be at times. I'll make do with other cats, kids, or dogs as long as they cherish peace as much as I do. Make arrangements to come meet me today! It may be the beginning of a wonderful new chapter in both of our lives!!! Zavalla is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. Her adoption fee is $100, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Animal ID: MMColonel Panther (male)

Bombay Mix    Age: Young Kitten

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Howdy! My name is Colonel Panther! I was named Colonel because KFC fried chicken was used to convince me to be rescued! I am a handsome black DSH/ Bombay mix fella who was born in May 2017. My visual assets are a shiny and sleek black patent-leather coat (except for a white 'sweet spot' on my tummy) and big round copper-penny eyes. I'm very sweet and love to cuddle, which makes sense since Bombay mixes are often called Velcro kitties because we are so sociable and like people so much. Although I haven't been around kids or dogs in my foster home, I get along great with the other foster kitties. I am particularly bonded to Tao, who was ... (Read More)rescued with me and who may be my daddy! Life hasn't always been a bowl of cherries for me because somehow I became a homeless stray. A Good Samaritan started feeding my mama Zavalla, Tao, and me but decided that we were too sweet to remain outside in the elements as well as with all the dangers of cars, dogs, and coyotes. So the Samaritan brought us to our future foster meowmy, and she graciously took us in to safety. Now I've learned how nice it is to be inside and have a soft bed, brimming food and water bowls, as well as toys! As much as I like it here in my foster home, I'm ready for a home of my very own. I would do great in a place with another kitty friend or two! In fact, it would be great if someone wanted to adopt Tao and me as a bonded pair. We are available individually or together, but two is always more fun than one. And we can keep each other entertained while you are at work or on vacation. I hope that my sleek black coat, affectionate nature, and hardscrabble story have piqued your interest. Please arrange to come meet me, and if you pick me, I promise to love you furrrever! Please don't be superstitious of black cats! You know, Groucho Marx once said, 'A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.' Buster's Friends makes a concerted effort to rescue black cats and kittens from shelters because they are five times more likely to be euthanized than any other color of cat. However, many people who have had a black or Bombay mix cat before end up adopting another one because they seem to have such wonderful personalities and are emotionally stable and well balanced. To find out more about Bombay mixes, watch the attached 2-3 minute You Tube video that appeared on Animal Planet or Google 'Cats 101 Bombay.' Colonel Panther is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for his indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. His adoption fee is $125 for kittens 9 months old and younger, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends.     Hello there! My name is Mazie, and I'm a sweet, shy, petite, yet adorable dilute tortoiseshell DSH gal with a white bib and mittens who was born in April 2017. I've had a hard life and was abused, so when I came into rescue, I was scared of my own shadow.     Hello there! My name is Sally Ann, and I am a sweet, affectionate silver-tabby-with-white DSH girl who was born in March 2014. I have the cutest white blaze on my nose plus a white bib, tummy, mittens, and high go-go boots. I love people and just soak up all of the attention that my foster meowmy can give me. When she's sitting in her chair, I'll jump up in her lap or next to her on the arm of the chair. I'm just hinting for a little petting and a head scratch! When she's in her bed, I'm right up there nestled next to her -- until another cat jumps up and gets in our way. I was adopted as a kitten from Buster's Friends. Unfortunately three ... (Read More)years later, I was left in a crate outside of the city pound. I'm not sure if I was left by someone who found me or my adopter 'dumped' me anonymously. My life was in jeopardy and I was terrified of my fate, but the shelter scanned for my microchip and contacted Buster's Friends, who had purchased my chip. Voil, my foster mom rushed over to pick me up and take me to safety. After the traumatizing experience at the shelter, upon first arrival to my foster home, I was a little leery of the other cats and big dog. But given a little love and time, I've gotten adjusted to the friendly menagerie of animals. And I was even shy at first with my foster meowmy, but once I got used to her and trusted her, I showed her how loving and affectionate I can be. Now I'm ready for my lifetime home --hopefully a little quieter and with less commotion than my foster home. I have so much love to give, and I'm always ready for a little reciprocal affection! Although I do well with other felines and cat-friendly dogs, I would just love it if I were the only kitty so I didn't have to share my human companions' attention!     Well hello there! My name is Tina Turner, and like my namesake, I'm a long, lithe beauty who asks you, 'What's love got to do with it?' I'm a black DSH/ Bombay mix gal who was born in late July 2016 and who says 'Love has EVERYTHING to do with it!' My adopter had not registered my microchip, but fortunately Buster's Friends was contacted as the purchaser of my microchip, and I am now happily situated in my foster home. I admit that I was a little traumatized by the whole shelter experience, and I didn't know what to make of my foster mom's young son because I'd never been around small children before. He actually helped my foster mom to build my trust of little people and to feel more comfortable in my new 'digs.' Turkish Van    Age: Young Kitten

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

A big Texas howdy to you! My name is Bandit because, like Zorro, I wear a black face mask on my otherwise mostly white body. Born in late May 2017, I'm considered a Turkish Van mix because I have said black face mask, ears, tail, and spots on my back. In fact, the Turks would consider the spots on my back to be the blessed thumbprints of God. Not only am I handsomely marked, but I am also bold and calm with the adults, kids, big dogs, and other cats in my foster home. I respond positively to love, attention, and, of course, food! I have quite a healthy appetite. My brothers Cole, Topper, and I were born to a feral mama, but our future ... (Read More)foster meowmy managed to snap us up when we were 6 weeks old and hand tamed us. Topper and I are called the terror twins because we get into mischief together. I am available individually or with one of my brothers. (Two is always more fun than one, and we can keep each other company when you are at work or on vacation.) I'm well socialized to all ages of humans, canines, and felines, so I would fit into many family situations. Please come meet me today! I'm soft as a bunny, and you won't be able to resist taking me home! Bandit is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for his indoor-only home. Bombay Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Tempo! I am a handsome black DSH/ Bombay mix gent who was born in May 2016. My visual assets are a shiny and sleek black patent-leather coat (with a small white 'pendant' at my neck) and big round copper-penny eyes. Like Bombay mixes, I have a long, lithe, agile physique despite my deceptively heavy, muscular body. I would love a home with kids, other kitties (I especially love Mykonos), or a polite, cat-friendly dog to play with me. I was turned into the shelter with my mom and 5 other siblings when were really little. We were all sick and not feeling well. Luckily foster meowmy sprung us from the shelter and helped us get well ... (Read More)again. Now I'm all grown up and ready for my lifetime home. Pick me (and my bonded buddy Mykonos, for that matter!), and I will love you furrever! We are available individually or together, but two is always more fun than one. And we can keep each other entertained while you are at work or on vacation. To find out more about Bombay mixes, watch the 2-3 minute You Tube video that appeared on Animal Planet by Googling 'Cats 101 Bombay.'     Hi there! My name is Mykonos, and I am a sweet, playful orange and white DSH fella who was born in July 2016. I am handsomely marked with white mittens, boots, bib, and tummy. I'm sure that you already know what wonderful personalities ginger tabbies are known for! I guess my foster meowmy named me after the Greek island's playful summer atmosphere! I do love to play and would love a home with kids, other kitties (I especially love Tempo), or a polite, cat-friendly dog to play with me. I was living all alone on the streets, and it was a scary lonely place. I was meowing loudly outside at night because I was so scared. There were people ... When she brought me inside, I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I had food, a bed, toys, and lots of kitty friends to play with. Best of all, I never had to get rained on again. Hopefully my hardscrabble beginnings are far behind me! Now I am looking for my very own furrrever home so that I never end up homeless again. Animal ID: SHBarnaby the lap cat (male)

Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, FIV

A big Texas howdy to you! My name is Barnaby, and I'm the sweetest, most affectionate brown tabby lap cat whom you'd ever want to meet. I showed up as a stray, but the vet thinks I was born about February 2016. I love sitting next to my foster mom (or in her lap!), getting head rubs, and even being held or carried around the house. She just loves it that nothing rattles me because I'm so relaxed and easy-going. Even getting baths, being in the cat carrier, and going to the vet fail to freak me out! Well, on second thought, I do run and hide behind the chair ONLY when the vacuum cleaner comes out and roars! You can just call me 'Mr. ... (Read More)Congeniality' because I'm so friendly with both adults and kids. I love to greet my foster family at the door when they come home. And I'm just as curious and outgoing when strangers and visitors come! Plus I get along fine with the 3 resident female cats. My foster home has no dogs, but I bet that I would get along great with a cat-friendly canine or two. And I'm a playful dude who loves chasing the laser toy, and I'm quite attached to my stuffed elephant toy. I have perfect litter box and scratching post manners. What's not to love about me? My foster mom is puzzled how such a perfectly wonderful kitty like me ended up to be a stray. Surely no one would abandon a fantastic fella like me. However, when I showed up at my foster home, I was skinny as a rail and obviously limping from an abscessed foot. My foster mom rushed me to the vet, who healed my wound and got me all 'fixed' up. The vet's the one who broke the news of the consequences of my being a stray: I'm FIV positive, which probably happened from an altercation with another intact male. No worries! It's not a death sentence at all, and I should live a long, healthy life. Bite wounds are the only way that FIV is spread, so chances are strong that a sweet, laid-back gent like me will be no danger to other spayed/ neutered cats in a future home. Of course, I'd be a fine addition to a home without other cats or with another FIV cat. Bottom line is that I may have FIV, but I have absolutely no emotional scars from my hardscrabble beginnings. I'm curious and trusting, and I just know that I would fit in just great into YOUR home. I'm anxious to meet you, so make plans for a meet-and-greet with me today! I will quickly prove to you that I am a 'schmoozer extraordinaire!' Barnaby is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, (will be) microchipped (upon adoption), FeLV negative, and ready for his indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted.     Hello there! My name is Hansi, and I'm just the friendliest, cutest 35-pound Dachshund/ Blue Heeler mix gal who was born in November 2009. I've got the elongated shape of a doxie but the fabulous markings and coat texture of a Blue Heeler. I'm a total sweetheart who loves hanging out with my people. I'm best with adults and older children; honestly, the young grandkids made me a bit nervous. I'm fine with dogs who are at least my size or larger, but I probably shouldn't be added to a home with a smaller dog because I may try to dominate the little tyke. Incidentally, I've never been around cats except from behind a fence. Nothing thrills me ... (Read More)more than hunting for the birds and squirrels in the back yard -- and sometimes I catch them! I could very likely be trained for hunting if you like that sort of thing. I guess you're wondering why I need to find a new home.     Hi there! My name is Ellie, and I am a beautiful blue-cream lynx-point Siamese/ Snowshoe mix gal with dazzling blue Liz-Taylor eyes and a tabby tail who was born June 2015. I'll never know how a sweet girl like me ended up at a kill-shelter, but I'm just grateful that my future Buster's Friends' foster meowmy spotted me and rescued me out of there! A shelter is no place for fabulous feline like me who is as friendly and affectionate as I am! When I first arrived at my foster home, I was covered with fleas, had bald patches from the flea dermatitis, and was really skinny. My foster meowmy knew just what to do to treat the fleas so my fur ... (Read More)would grow back, and she gave me plenty of groceries to help me put on a few pounds. Now I'm svelte, happy, healthy, and ready for a home of my own. I'm loving and attentive with adults, but sometimes loud noises or fast movements scare me, so my foster meowmy thinks I should not go to a home with loud young children. I get along great with the other foster kitties too! I haven't been around the resident dog in my foster home, but foster meowmy assures interested dog-owning adopters that she can certainly try me out! I just want a home where I'll be loved and cherished forever! No more shelters for me! I promise to reciprocate by batting my irresistible baby-blue peepers at you and pouring on you all my love and affection with all my heart. Why don't you come meet me today? Domestic Cat    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello there! My name is Sweet William, and I am a handsome, affectionate buff-tabby-and-white fella who was born about June 2015. I am such a LOVER BOY!!! I purr constantly, eat voraciously, and beg for petting!!! I particularly like my foster mom to run her fingernails up and down my backbone, under my neck, and behind my ears! I have never had my ears rubbed nor my tail scratched before going into foster care, so I am in ecstasy. I also like my foster mom to coo over me in her high-pitched 'kitty-only' voice. I'm a fun-loving dude who loves to play with balls, bottle corks, and chip-bag clips. In my more peaceful moments, I like sitting by ... (Read More)the window and 'talking' to the birds, lizards, and feral cat I see. I'm an affectionate boy who prefers to sleep on my foster mom instead of beside her. Believe it or not, I had rather hardscrabble beginnings before I came into her foster care. I had been living at a trailer park where I had gotten into several nighttime altercations with other un-neutered toms. A nice lady let me briefly come inside her trailer and fed me. She had a cute little intact female, and I had a blast fathering two litters of kittens. The second litter set this lady in a panic, so that's when Buster's Friends came in to neuter me, vaccinate me, and have me tested for FeLV/ FIV. Thank heavens I was negative! I am so sweet and social that I certainly didn't need to be released back into the trailer park. So my foster mom stepped up to bring me to live safely inside full-time and be the recipient of all of her TLC. It was a learning curve, at first, for me to adjust to living strictly indoors. I used to be petrified of the ceiling fan, vacuum cleaner, blow dryer, and outside noises. Plus I would run and hide under the bed when her little munchkin preschool grandchildren came to visit. However, my foster mom was patient with me, and after only a week, I let her grandsons pet me. In less than 3 weeks, I jumped on her bed to sleep with her even when the ceiling fan was whirling above! All I needed was some 'time and love' in order for my craving for people's affection to overcome my skittish fears of the unknown and the brand-new! Now that I have adjusted to my foster home almost completely, I will await finding my forever, lifetime home. I have so much love to give and am so laid-back and friendly that I am confident that I will fit into many families. Sweet William is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for his indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted. Rottweiler    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Hi there! My name is Jerri, and I am a sweet, fun-loving 80-pound female purebred Rottweiler (no papers) who was born in January 2010. I'm 'beautiful, healthy, strong, and still very active,' says my human. I have lived most of my life indoors, so I am a great TV/ sofa companion. Although I am not crate-trained, I'm thoroughly housebroken and not destructive when my human is not home. I do enjoy the outdoors where I can play with my soccer ball and toys or just run around. Although I have never been around cats or small children, I love dogs; I adore treats even more but don't like to share them! (Now who could blame me?) My Good ... (Read More)Samaritan rescuer found me on the street in June 2010 as an abandoned, stray 6-month-old puppy with gauze around my paws and stitches from being spayed. It's been a wonderful life with my rescuer up until now. Unfortunately my beloved human has developed some debilitating health issues and can no longer physically care for me. Regretfully, she is trying to find me a wonderful new lifetime family to cherish me as much as she has. Could yours be that family? Jerri is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested. Her adoption fee is $150, check or cash payable to Buster's Friends. Domestic Cat    Age: Kitten

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! I'm an ultra-sweet, laid-back, black-and-white-tuxedo lap kitty named Caroline who was born in September 2016. Compared to some of the pesky, over-active foster kittens with whom I share my home, I am a calm and angelic princess. I'm content to cuddle beside my foster mom, and I'm so confident that she loves me that I don't have to be on top of her (like - ahem -some pushy little boy kitties whom I know!). I'm very petite, and my foster mom says that my coat is so sleek that I look exotic. I'm beautifully marked with white eyebrows and whiskers against my otherwise black face and with a white bib and mittens. My foster mom is so ... (Read More)glad that a sweet little girl like me just appeared at her house as a stray. I was hungry and attracted to the food she puts out for her feral outdoor kitties. Nobody in the neighborhood came looking or advertising for me, so my foster mom scooped me up and brought me inside to safety. As much as I like the love and security of my foster home, I'm ready for my very own home where I can have a one-on-one (or two) relationship with my new family. I promise to be a wonderful companion, and I hope you will cherish me by keeping me inside my new forever home. Caroline is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. No de-clawing permitted.     Hi my name is Sammie! I'm a very sweet, handsome seal point Snowshoe/ Siamese mix big boy with a white bib and four white paws who was born in November 2015. Just look at my Frank Sinatra baby blues! I am a little bit shy, and it took me awhile to adjust to my foster home, but my foster meowmy was patient and kind to me. Since I thrived on all of her TLC, after awhile, I came out of my shell, and my foster meowmy was delighted to find out that I love getting petted and will roll over for more! She thinks that if someone takes me home on a trial basis, they will soon see how ultra-sweet I am and much I love human attention. I'm a bit afraid ... (Read More)of the big dog in my foster home, but I REALLY love other kitties, so my foster meowmy is insisting that I find a home where I will have a kitty friend! If you don't have another kitty, just ask Foster Meowmy! She has lots of my kitty friends whom you can adopt to keep me company. Because I am a little bit shy, Foster Meowmy feels that it would be best that I go to a home without young children because loud noises might scare me. Would you like to give me my furrrever home where I'm given plenty of time to acclimate and gain my confidence as well as play with other kitties?!?     Hello there! My name is Pidge, and I am a sweet Classic gray tabby-tortoiseshell (torbie) little girl who was born October 1, 2016 in my foster's mom's home. I look like a gray tabby with marble swirls (instead of mackerel stripes) on my sides -- except, upon close inspection, I have soft orange spots on my body.     A big Texas howdy to you! My name is Rocky, and I got my name because of the raccoon-like stripes on my tail. I am a Turkish Van/ DSH mix dude who is mostly white with gray tabby markings and who was born in May 2016. I'm a friendly, sociable fella who loves to be petted and then turns on my loud purr motor to show my contentment. But I'm no couch potato! No siree! Like a typical teenager, I'm active and love to bat around balls with bells as well as stalk my catnip mice. And I think it's a stitch when I jump in a box or a flower pot and peek out. I was rescued by a nice lady who heard me, a wet and bedraggled 6-week-old orphan stray ... (Read More)kitten at the time, crying plaintively outside her window after a rainstorm. Fortunately she gave me a safe haven in her home, got me fully vetted, and planned to keep me. Only one problem: her senior resident dog doesn't like cats in general and is afraid of me -- imagine -- a little 24-once tyke! I try to make friends with the old girl by playing with her and licking her face, but she will have none of either! She usually just gets up and moves when I come around unless I just want to sleep against her back. To make matters worse, the dog has been exhibiting some neurotic behavior since I arrived. So even though my rescuer loves me dearly, she has made the difficult decision that she needs to find me a new home. I understand because the dog was there first, and I'm the newbie in the home. My rescuer promises me that she will find me an equally loving home where I can be the outgoing and active young cat that I should be allowed to be. Just think what would happen if that adopter were you: you'd get to hear how my purr motor sounds like a perking coffeepot!     Hi my name is Paris! I am a gorgeously marked mostly white-with-black-eye-patches Catahoula/ Pointer/ Pit mix female who weighs 40 pounds and who was born about May 2015. I'm a very energetic 'teenager' who loves to go to the park and play with other medium-sized dogs. (I don't do well with small yappy dogs, however.) I especially love my rope toy! I was found foraging for food as a lone stray in a park and then was turned into a shelter. It was my lucky day when my future foster mom saw me and rescued me because I didn't like that place! As much as I love my foster home, I would love a home of my very own. If it were an active home with ... (Read More)lots going on, that would be terrific. I'd do great with older kids but, since I still jump a bit, I might knock over a small child by mistake. I live in a foster home with cats, but my foster mom says that I'm 'marginal' but not impossible with cats; I just need more training, and right now she wouldn't leave me alone with the cats. I'm crate trained, so now all I need is my forever home! Paris is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested.     My name is Millie, and I am a sweet, pretty tabico DSH gal who was born in April of 2016. A tabico is a tabby-calico or a gray tabby with orange tabby patches as well as plenty of white. I have a white chin, white bib, white tummy, and white mittens. I had rather hardscrabble beginnings in that I was a socialized stray kitty who was foraging for food with a colony of feral cats. Bombay Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Panther is a beautiful Bombay/ black domestic short hair mix male cat who was born in winter of 2013. He is his foster mom's favorite cat (which says something considering the many competitors) because he is so sweet and loving. It's not surprising that Bombay mixes are sometimes called Velcro kitties because they are so sociable and like people so much. Not only is he good with 2-legged creatures but also the 4-legged varieties: he does fine around other cats as well as the older big dog in his foster home. Panther's only caveat is that he is hyper-sensitive to fleas: even one flea bite causes him to scratch and consequently to lose hair. ... (Read More)This is easily remedied by just being very diligent to stay on schedule with his flea preventative. Then, true to his name, he has a soft, sleek, and gleaming coat that is like black patent leather. He also has the Bombay mix's mesmerizing round copper-penny eyes that look right through you and make your heart melt. Like Bombay mixes, he has a long, lithe, agile body despite his deceptively heavy, muscular body. Won't you be the one who gives this chip of onyx his lifetime home? Please don't be superstitious of black cats! You know, Groucho Marx once said, 'A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.' Buster's Friends makes a concerted effort to rescue black cats and kittens from shelters because they are five times more likely to be euthanized than any other color of cat. However, many people who have had a black or Bombay mix cat before end up adopting another one because they seem to have such wonderful personalities and are emotionally stable and well balanced. To find out more about Bombay mixes, watch the 2-3 minute You Tube video that appeared on Animal Planet by Googling 'Cats 101 Bombay.'     Well hello there! My name is Midnight, and I am a magnificent 75-pound black lab/ coonhound mix fella who was born in January 2012. I'm mostly solid black but have some accents of white on my chest and sprinkles of white on my paws. My foster mom describes me as having a big, enthusiastic spirit, and I am certainly very friendly with people and other dogs -- especially puppies. (True confessions, I'm not so great with small kids or cats!) I love to play fetch and run, so I need lots of exercise and someone who can keep up with me. I've had a rather hardscrabble life. In 2013, a Good Samaritan found me when I was barely more than a puppy, ... (Read More)wandering around on the train tracks, where I had been abandoned to die. I was very skinny and emaciated, and it was very apparent that if I didn't get help soon, I would die. The vet diagnosed me with malnutrition and heartworms as well. After a few months of plenty of groceries, heartworm medication, and lots of tender loving care, I came back to full health -- including being heartworm free --and grew to my present mighty stature. Then I was adopted into what I thought was my lifetime home. However, my adopter was extremely passive, didn't understand me, and let me run all over him. So I was returned and came back into foster care in order to find my final and forever home. I'm extremely intelligent -- probably too smart for my own good. I have been trained by a professional dog trainer. I need someone who is strong and firm yet patient with me so that I will respect them. Certainly that's not too much to ask for a super-sweet, handsome dude like me? Won't you give this magnificent and amiable big dog the lifelong home that I certainly deserve?     Well hello there! I'm Ruby, a very loving, sweet, and well-behaved apricot-and-white tabby girl who was born in the fall of 2012. Call me Miss Congeniality because I just love people!! Also I like to snuggle up to my foster mom so she can be sure and hear that my loud purring sounds like a perking coffee pot. Plus I'm playful too. My laser mouse is my favorite toy. I'm unusual because most ginger tabbies are male, but I'm a little girl who's all 'sugar and spice and everything nice.' My palette is almost the color of a cameo -- soft apricot with my white bib, mittens, and high go-go boots. I will dazzle your eyes -- like you would expect ... (Read More)from any ruby! In early 2017, I had my dental woes from gingio-stomatitis, but no worries -- I'll never have annual dental cleanings again because almost all of my teeth have been extracted! Although my foster mom sees to it that I get my share of canned food, believe it or not, my gums have healed enough that I can eat dry kibble again. One caveat about me is that I need to be the only cat in the house, but if a gentle dog (like the little one in my foster home) will not hassle me, I will be fine. I was surrendered to a kill-shelter because my human companion's new husband was allergic to me, but I am staying positive and just know that my next home will be for my lifetime. If you're looking for an affectionate, attentive companion, I'm PURRFECT. Please make plans to meet my sweet, loving self today! Ruby is updated on shots, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and ready for her indoor-only home. Her adoption fee is $100, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the purple contact button so we can arrange for you to meet this rare and delightful apricot tabby girl. (Less)
